Judy Trezvant is a hero in the town of Corinth, running the food bank and giving to the less fortunate and elderly. Judy is 53 years old and a single mom. Judy raised two daughters on her own and it was a struggle, so now she wants to give to those that are dealing with what she had to overcome.People come to the food bank to get staples like bread, milk and meat. The food comes from a national program run through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Johnson County is comprised mostly of rural and low income families. The first woman interviewed is Helen biggs, 62, of Harmontown, She is a retired clerk who comes to the food bank once a week. She lives at home with her husband, Jim, who is disabled. “ Judy is great and she is always trying to help other people”, said Helen. “ Judy inspires me in everyway, shes an outgoing person; she will do whatever she can anytime and anyplace.” Judy serves to the elderly mainly, and unemployed but it is only temporary. “ I don't think im a hero, I am just doing what God wants me to do, I give in the glory of God”, says Judy. The community has helped out since Judy started the food bank with the bake sales and concerts, One month, the Glendale United Methodist Church youth group collected and donated $400. The food bank is officially named Raising Hope for Food Pantry. It now serves about 70 area families per week. “ I am going to be doing this until God takes me home”, says Judy. Judy will have to move the location of the food bank. The food bank had been using its present facility in Harmontown rent free, but now the landlord is expanding and needs to use the building. Judy has to be out by the 15
th. Judy believes that God has helped her all through out her life, and he will guide her in the right direction for this as well. Judy continues to work the food bank until somebody else is called to take over.
