Ashby Shirley [Inverted Pyramid]

A near-tragic malfunction occurred today as a twin-engine plane crashed into a dense wooded area just one mile north of the local airport, says airport manager Dave Christopher. Aboard the twin-engine, city councilman, city manager and the construction company president of Acme Construction. A spokesperson for the local hospital confirms that six people on board were brought in. However, at the time, no condition reports are available.

Washington Elementary will continue to hold classes today, despite a heating plant failure that has rendered Lincoln Elementary uninhabitable against the extreme cold. School superintendent Dr. Ken Gray reports schools will open, but buses will run only on country routes to pick up students who live farthest from the schools, as over half of the city's school buses this morning were unable to start. The National Weather Service announced that last night's official low temperature was a "chilling" 18 degrees below zero.
