Kandance Webley

A plane crashed near a local airport leaving six people injured; three of the victims possibly being the city manager, a councilman and the Acme Construction Company's president. A small twin- engine plane crashed one mile north of the local airport. The crash happened 30 minutes ago. The plane was approaching the airport for landing when it crashed into a dense growth of trees, according to airport manager Dave Christopher. No condition reports are available, but a hospital spokesperson confirms that six people from a plane crash were brought in. Acme Construction company called the newsroom seeking information about the crash, saying its plane was due in at that time. They say the city manager, a city councilman and the construction company's president are among those supposed to be on the plane.

Some School will be closed this morning because of the official low temperatures of last night. The National Weather Service indicates that the official low temperature last night was 18 degrees below zero causing fewer than half the city's school buses started this morning. Dr. Ken, school superintendent reports schools will open, but buses will run only on country routes to pick up students who live the farthest from schools. Lincoln Elementary will not open only because the heating plant failed but Washington Elementary will hold classes. Marjorie Thomas, president of the Washington School PTA, says all the schools should close. Several parents have decided to keep children at home even though schools are open.
