Hill Ray Inverted Pyramid

A twin-engine plane crashed one mile north of the local airport. The plane was approaching the airport for landing when it crashed into a dense growth of trees, according to airport manager Dave Christopher. The airport is located five miles north of the city. No condition reports are avialable, but a hospital spokesperson confirms that six people from a plane crash were brought in. Acme Construciton says the city manager, a city councilman and the construction company president are among those supposed to be on its plane.

Fewer than half the city's school buses started this morning, as the National Weather Service indicates that the official low temperature last night was 18 degrees below zero. Dr. Ken Gray, school superintendent, reports schools will open, but buses will run only on country routes to pick up students who live the farthest from schools. Several parents decided to keep their children home even though their school was open. Lincoln Elementary will not open because the heating plant failed, but Washington Elementary will hold classes. Marjorie Thomas, president of the Washington School PTA, says all the schools should close.
