A twin engine plane crashed upon landing about a mile north of the airport 30 minutes ago. Acme construction company says its plane was due in at the same time, and the city manager, a city councilman and the construction company president are among those supposed to be on the plane. No condition reports are available, but a hospital spokes person confirms that six people from a plane crash have been brought in. According to airport manager Dave Christopher, the plane was approaching the airport for landing when it crashed into a dense growth of trees. The airport is located 5 miles north of the city.

Low temperatures are causing some schools to close and many head aches for others. With overnight lows reaching degrees below zero, school officials have decided that no Kindergarten classes will not meet today. Lincoln Elementary will also be closed because the heating plant failed, but Washington Elementary will hold classes. Also, due to the low temperatures half the city's school buses did not start, causing superintendent Dr. Ken Grey to only send buses to pick up children who live on country routes farthest from the schools. However, Marjorie Thomas, president of the Washington School PTA, says all the schools should close. Many parents agreed and decided to keep their children home even though their schools were open.
